Guildford is a tiny settlement located amidst low hills on the banks of the Loddon River. Its history is embedded in the gold mining past of Victoria's Goldfields, fine buildings of brick and stone, including old chapels, the police lock-up, historic hotel and houses still survive.

Guildford is located 130km north west of Melbourne on the Midland Highway between Castlemaine & Daylesford.

The 'Heritage Listed' Guildford Family Hotel was established in 1856 and has been central to the social and cultral life of Guildford and surrounding districts.
